Airport delays, red-eyed flight times and the pile-them-in package mentality have well and truly taken the shine off international travel. By Car

By Train
All the grandeur of North and Mid Wales can be enjoyed on speedy direct train services from the Midlands and North West England. Services run from the Midlands, through Shrewsbury to Machynlleth and from there the Cambrian Coaster takes you on a scenic train journey along Cardigan Bay to Barmouth, Harlech and on to Pwllheli, linking with the narrow gauge Ffestiniog Railway at Minffordd station.

By Coach
National Express website link coach services run to Llandudno, Bangor, Caernarfon and Porthmadog from London and Manchester. Arrive Wales operates the "Traws Cambria" service from Aberystwyth to Dolgellau, Porthmadog, Caernarfon and Bangor- website link

By Sea
Irish Ferries website link and Stena Line website link operate high speed and regular services into Holyhead from Dublin and Dun Laoghaire. Ferry services into Fishguard and Pembroke allow easy access into the area.

By Air
The international gateways of Manchester website link, Liverpool website link and Birmingham airports website link are less than two hours away, all have direct road, coach and train links into the area.

Maes Awyr Môn is a brand new airport serving North Wales. It is located in the south west of Anglesey at RAF Valley, less than two miles from the A55 expressway. The airport provides a gateway for both business and leisure travellers to north west Wales and all the region has to offer.

Highland Airways offers twice daily Monday to Friday flights linking Cardiff with Anglesey. Services from Anglesey Airport offer an alternative to the long journeys by road and rail between the region and the capital, as well as providing a link to Cardiff International Airport and its possibilities for onward travel - website link

Once in Snowdonia there is an excellent public transport network enabling easy travel throughout the area. It's a very relaxed and "green" way to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the mountains and by leaving the car behind even for a few hours makes a contribution towards a healthier and cleaner environment. There is an excellent network of buses, which run into and around the busiest part of the Snowdonia National Park.

North and Mid Wales Rover Tickets are available from all railway stations. These are valid on trains throughout the area and buses in Gwynedd and Conwy and also on the Snowdon Sherpa.

Buy a Red Rover ticket on the first bus you board and use it all day on buses 1-99 in Gwynedd and to Conwy, on services starting and ending in Gwynedd.
